What Do I Need To Know?
Whether it’s a small 2 lot sub division or a larger development you are responsible for providing telecommunications infratsructure to your properties. Your DA (development application) may depend on the NBN (or Telstra) infrastructure in place.
There are many scenarios for your developmemt and you’ll probably need to submit a NBN New Development application form.

NBN Application Process
Comm Designs is a nbn trained supplier and I will do all of the following steps – The whole process is broken down Into 3 steps.
- Early planning
- Apply & submit
- Agree & Accept
- Finalise Design
- Finish Build
1. Early Planning
Step One: I can’t emphasis enough that you need to start planning at least 6 months in advance, giving you plenty of time to obtain the approvals needed. All nbn infrastructure needs to be installed following their guidlines and can be costly and cause delays if not followed properly.
You should get my free checklist –>
2. Submit an Application
Using the information provided (see the checklist) I will submit your application for you.
The application involves an eligibilty check before I submit the nbn application where they will then assess the application and confirm the *charges inlvoved and how long it will take to connect.
*Note: Comm Design cost doesn’t include these charges and they will be sent directly to the developer’s nominated person.
3. Aggree To The NBN Terms
As I said in step 2 you will be sent the T & C along with the cost. These maybe payable upfront before and design will be approved or work can start.
I will still proceed with the design and submit when complete so as soon as nbn receive theri payment and T & C are accepted they can approve the design.
4. Design And Build
After nbn has provided any feedback and changes to the design have been made I will uplaod them to the nbn portal.
Nbn may ask for other designs related to the development but I should already have them as long as nothing has changed.
Once the nbn design has changed you can start building the nbn infrastructure within the property boundary.
5. Finish Build
When the nbn infrastructure has been installed correctly it’s nearly time for connection.
The ready for service will be comminicated directly to you.
I will then send nbn an “As Built Design” and submity a Notice of Practical Completion. (PCN)
This mean that your new development will be ready to transfer the nbn infratsruce to nbn.
If your development only need Lead-in conduits (LIC) this will not apply. NBN will then conduct an inspection of the site to check that it has been installed to standard and if no remediation is required they will issue a PCC – Notice Of Completion.
