Faster NBN
The plan to lay new high speed fibre through out the country to provide Australians faster internet by the year 2023 was announced.
It’s estimated that this plan to upgrade to the NBN will cost the Federal Government in access of 3.5 billion dollars. With an expected start date just a few months away it’s expected that the NBN will be available to 10 million homes.
With far more people working from home now due to the Covid the NBN has been under pressure to get such a project in place. It’s not just the current climate but Covid has demonstrated that working from home is more viable with a solid, faster internet network in place.
The plan will see new fibre cable laid throughout the country, with Aussies able to access the faster internet connection for free.
You’ll need to read the small print as the Communications Minister (Paul Fletcher) said that customers will need to request the high speed internet and will have to show the need for it!
“If customers don’t ask for a new fibre to home service, we won’t roll it out to your home”
And so the whole project when it is completely annouced is expected to create up to 25,000 new jobs.
